We are so excited to welcome you to CAHSPR 2023 being held May 29th to 31st in person in beautiful Montreal, and online for those who plan to attend virtually. We have curated what we think is a blockbuster experience for the health services and policy research community and look forward to seeing you there.

Buckle up because we will be digging into important, and even difficult subjects. We have invited people with unparalleled expertise to lead us in authentic conversations about racism, inequity in health care, the anti-science movement, health human resources and the role of HSPR in an age of misinformation……and that’s just the plenaries!

Look at this list of speakers that you will have an opportunity to hear from. We are honoured to welcome Peter Hotez, Jillian Horton, Steini Brown, Andrew Boozary, Marcia Anderson, Notisha Massaquoi, Serge Buy, Sonya Kupta, Luigi Lepanto, Faye Orser, Ivy Bourgeault, Chris Simpson, Brenda Gamble and Pat Armstrong – Wow!

The Hall Laureate Lecture is a part of the CAHSPR conference that everyone looks forward to. This year continues the tradition of excellence as the Justice Emmett Hall Memorial Foundation has awarded Pat Armstrong with the honour in 2023. You’ll want to hear her lecture titled “Ways of Seeing Care: Interdisciplinary Work in the Hall Tradition.”

Our theme groups feature prominently in the program at CAHSPR 2023 and will be bringing excellent panel discussions about a broad range of subjects including why primary care physicians are leaving the workforce, putting evidence at the centre of everyday life, real-world evidence in cancer health services and policy research , ensuring access to safe and effective medications for children and adolescents, health human resource issues and possible solutions and a conversation about academic learnings in health equity research

The heart of our program is the work presented in our concurrent and poster sessions by our research community. This year we had an unprecedented 777 abstracts submitted – a record for CAHSPR. Our scientific committee and reviewers have done the hard work of curating the submissions into a fantastic series of sessions. The calibre of research submitted was so great we added a new session to the program, “The Top 2023 Abstracts” and you won’t want to miss it!

We want to make sure our community knows that safety is our most important consideration. We are following the science as it evolves about COVID19 precautions and will update and communicate policies as we get closer to the date. High quality masks will be available to everyone who attends, and we are working with the venue to ensure air quality and eating options are optimal.

Top all that off with the opportunity to connect with peers, experts, friends, decision makers, policy makers along with caregivers and patients and we are confident that this year will be an outstanding conference and the place to be at the end of May! See you in Montreal and on-line!
