Our Vision

Our vision is for a vibrant community of researchers and decision makers working together toward evidence-based health care and health policy.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a multidisciplinary association fostering and supporting:

  • Linkages between researchers and decision makers;
  • Knowledge translation and exchange;
  • Education and training; and
  • Advocacy for research and its more effective use in planning, practice and policy-making.

History

Our history dates back to September 1983 and the formation of the Canadian Health Economics Research Association / Association Canadienne pour la recherche en economie de la Sante (CHERA / ACRES). Over a period of 20 years, the association grew to include over 400 members from a wide variety of backgrounds.

In 2003 the association undertook changes that formally reflect its broadening membership base and mandate. In order to become a national, broad-based, interdisciplinary association of practitioners, users and students of health services and policy research, the organization took on a new name: the Canadian Association for Health Services and Policy Research / Association canadienne pour la recherche sur les services et les politiques de la santé (CAHSPR/ACRSPS).

CAHSPR was launched in 2004 at its Annual Conference, a signature event of the association.
