Dalhousie University’s Department of Community Health & Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a tenure stream position as an Assistant/Associate Professor in patient-centered outcomes research. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in research methods and statistics in the substantive areas of public health, public policy, health administration or other health-related areas. The candidate will benefit from, and strengthen, established relationships among patients, healthcare providers, policy-makers and researchers across the region through the Maritime Strategy for Patient Oriented Research SUPPORT Unit. The incumbent will be called upon to develop a collaborative and impactful research program that is complementary to and strengthens patient-centered outcomes research within the Faculty of Medicine. Engagement with local, national and international research networks is expected. 
Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) and a strong track record of conducting research in the areas of epidemiology or health services to be considered for this position. Applicants are expected to have experience in engaging community-based partners, and demonstrated expertise in an area of population or public health research, such as health disparities, rural health, or primary care health outcomes.  The ideal candidate will have university teaching experience and strong background or training in population health or health services research; excellent quantitative research skills; strong methodological skills including epidemiology, statistics, or health economics; and a demonstrated track record of research funding or a  demonstrated potential to build a research portfolio. Key personal traits include a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to work in multidisciplinary research teams. Clinical experience and training, research post-doctoral fellowship training, and evidence of knowledge translation experience are desirable assets. The candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills.  
This position will be based at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) in Saint John, NB. DMNB delivers the Dalhousie four-year MD curriculum to 30 students per year who are based in New Brunswick, and 80 who are based in Halifax. DMNB is located on the Saint John campus of the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Dalhousie University and UNB will collaborate to provide a robust, stimulating academic environment to support this position including research and teaching opportunities. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with UNB colleagues on both the Saint John and Fredericton campuses, and to develop research activities that integrate well with those at UNB.
