The Occupational Disease and Injury Prevention unit (ODIP) provides the framework for the prevention and reduction of occupational disease in Alberta workplaces. The work of the unit is closely linked with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Policy and Program Development. The ODIP research stream connects people to research resources, provides evidence for OHS policies and programs, administers a research grant funding program, and fosters collaboration with scholars with the ultimate goal of improving the health of Alberta workers.

Fact: The importance of occupational disease is not well recognized; however, the reality is that occupational disease is the primary cause of work related deaths and is one of the primary causes of all cancer. Are you interested in joining a dedicated team that is breaking new ground in the area of occupational disease research and prevention?
Reporting to the Occupational Disease Scientific Lead, you will provide ongoing support for the research stream by collecting, summarizing, analyzing and disseminating scientific information, contributing to the administration and evaluation of the research grant funding program, and identify new and emerging occupational disease and injury issues.
You will work closely with the Scientific Lead position in the design and tracking of occupational disease prevention research projects, project management, liaising with researchers, and the preparation of scientific reports. You will also help build evaluation capacity, liaise with internal and external evaluation experts and participate in conducting program evaluations. You will be an integral part of the ODIP team in identifying and contextualizing new and emerging Occupational Health and Safety issues in Alberta.
To be successful in this role you will have strong analytical and research skills coupled with highly developed written and oral communication skills as well as collaboration skills. These skills will assist the development, implementation and promotion of the comprehensive occupational disease prevention strategies through the coming years.

Qualifications: University graduation in a health-related discipline (such as, but not limited to, Public Health, Occupational Hygiene, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety) is required coupled with recent related experience in research methodologies and analysis. Experience conducting information and literature searches via the internet and other means is also required.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in a health-related discipline and demonstrated experience in scientific literature reviews, project management and program evaluation.
