The Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto (DLSPH) invites applications for a full-time three year contractually limited term appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be appointed as the Director of the Office of Global Public Health Education & Training (OGPHET). The expected start date is September 1, 2016 and will end on June 30, 2019.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a Ph.D., Sc.D., M.D., or other doctoral degree in Global Health, Public Health (or related field, such as Epidemiology, Environmental Health, etc.); at least 5 years of experience as a senior administrator in a research intensive institution; and a significant track record of research (and/or creative professional activity), and teaching related to global health. She or he must also demonstrate teaching excellence through teaching accomplishments, a statement of teaching philosophy and strong endorsements from referees. Evidence of excellence in research should include evidence of research of an internationally competitive calibre, as evidenced by publications in leading journals in the field, presentations at significant conferences, and strong endorsements by referees of high international standing. 

The Director of the DLSPH Office of Global Public Health Education & Training will report directly to the Dean as an academic administrator holding a full-time academic position with a distribution of responsibilities to include academic administration teaching and research. The Director will also work with the Dean’s Team (the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; Associate Dean for Research; Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs; the Director and Associate Director of the Institute for Health Policy Management and Evaluation; the Director of Advancement; the Director of Communications; the Chief Administrative Officer) and the DLSPH Executive Committee, which also includes Public Health Sciences Division Heads and the Directors of several other Institutes and programs. 

The Director will serve and promote the scholarly activities of a diverse, growing and engaged community of faculty and students pursuing global health training and research with increasingly high impact. S/he will facilitate and coordinate global health activities across all academic units at DLSPH, including but not limited to: creation and maintenance of global health practica and other global health experiences for our learner community; directing global health research-related student travel awards programs; overseeing training exchange programs with global health academic partner institutions; working with DLSPH faculty to develop global health programming opportunities in each of the School’s home faculty and trans-disciplinary units; working with DLSPH to identify and secure external funds for DLSPH global health training activities; and represent the School’s global public health education & training efforts to external communities. As part of the Director’s duties, s/he will also direct or co-direct the Collaborative Program in Global Health, teach its required seminar course, and assist with teaching other critical courses directly related to global health. The Director will also work with staff to potentially expand online and “MOOC” based training opportunities related to global health. 

The Director of the Office of Global Public Health Education & Training (OGPHET) will be responsible for: 
• Serving and promoting the interests of the robust community of global health students and faculty at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. 
• Supervising administrative staff in the Office of Global Public Health Education & Training 
• Collaborating with the DLSPH Division Heads, IHPME Director, and the DLSPH-based Institute for Global Health Equity & Innovation in the development of global health programming (courses and competencies in individual courses and programs; global health practica sites; seminars; etc.) relevant to these units. 
• Directing the DLSPH Global Health Student Research Travel Awards program. 
• Working with the Office of Advancement and DLSPH faculty to identify external funding opportunities to support DLSPH global health training activities. 
• Collaborating closely with the Faculty Affairs Office and Graduate Office regarding the exchange of visiting faculty and students, respectively, with/ global partners. 
• Overseeing the OPGHET’s function as a clearinghouse for information on global health seminars and other activities of particular interest to DLSPH learners, including faculty, staff and students. 
• Directing the Collaborative Program in Global Health, including the leadership of its required Global Health Seminar course and participation in relevant other curricula, and the planned expansion of the Program from its current Doctoral student configuration to also include Master’s degree students (in collaboration with the Director of the current DLSPH Emphasis Program in Global Health for Masters students). 
• Engaging in other priority activities as directed by the Dean
