Discipline of Family Medicine/Faculty of Medicine
The Discipline of Family Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, is inviting applications for a tenure track faculty position in Primary Healthcare Research. This is an exciting period in primary care renewal in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Discipline of Family Medicine, through the Primary Healthcare Research Unit (PHRU), is seeking a researcher with expertise, training and experience in areas related to primary healthcare such as: aging/eldercare, chronic disease, lifestyle issues, complex patients, health equity and health services research. Experience in health economics will be considered a strong asset. The successful candidate will be expected to develop his/her own research program in these and other research areas related to primary healthcare. In addition, the person in this position will participate in service to the University, teaching within the Faculty of Medicine, and will serve as a resource in research methods (qualitative and quantitative) to the faculty members, residents and graduate students within the Discipline of Family Medicine.
The appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, and candidates must have a PhD or equivalent terminal degree by the anticipated start date of the appointment. * Candidates holding an MD/MSc with appropriate experience and skills will also be considered; however, please note that this full time academic position does not include funding for clinical work. The ideal candidate will have an established primary healthcare research track record and experience working with health care providers and policy makers. A successful grant-writing track record will be considered an asset, and knowledge of the external research funding process in Canada is required.
