Applications are invited from candidates with outstanding credentials and an excellent track record of research productivity to join our team of world-class scientists at the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) for the Canadian Centre for Applied Research in Cancer Control (ARCC). ARCC is an innovative pan-Canadian research centre whose mission is to improve cancer control and the delivery of care through interdisciplinary leadership in health economics, services, policy, and ethics research, education and knowledge translation. Applicants at the Scientist (equivalent to a university Assistant Professor) level are invited to apply.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in health economics or health services research as well as at least 3 years experience in research. Recognition of the core principles of collegiality, teamwork, accountability and integrity is expected. The role will allow a minimum of 80% of time to be devoted to the conduct of research and training with the balance of time to be devoted to administrative and/or service functions. A successful candidate would be expected to obtain a cross appointment at an appropriate rank at a BC University. Preference will be given to researchers who provide the best fit with ARCC’s core mandate, who have significant expertise in the application of economic methods to genomics and personalized medicine, and who have a strong background in economic evaluation and the statistical analysis of complex data sets.
Key attributes of the successful applicant will include the ability to initiate and sustain a successful nationally recognized research program as indicated by significant contributions to multiple high impact publications, acquisition of peer-reviewed funding from national or international agencies as a principle investigator and as a co-investigator, invited presentations, reviews for journal articles and grants, and strong references by recognized arms length authorities in his or her research discipline.
