Dalhousie University’s Departments of Community Health and Epidemiology and of Urology, Faculty of Medicine invite applications for a Career stream Endowed Scientist position, the Soillse Scientist in Prostate Cancer Quality of Life Research. The academic rank for the successful applicant (i.e., Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) will be commensurate with his/her experience. The position will be filled by July 2015. 

Applicants for the Soillse Scientist must be a quality of life researcher with expertise in health outcomes measurement, ideally in cancer and/or urology. The successful applicant will have a PhD in Epidemiology, Psychology, Education, or related discipline, and will have demonstrated experience in measurement. The successful Soillse Scientist will develop a collaborative and thriving research program on health-­‐related quality of life among men with prostate cancer and their caregivers, will attract funding from major granting agencies, and will engage in graduate and medical education teaching. The successful Soillse Scientist will enhance and complement existing activities in the Departments of Community Health and Epidemiology and of Urology. His or her research program will benefit from the infrastructure made available through the Maritimes Strategy for Patient Oriented Research SUPPORT Unit and build partnerships among clinicians, researchers, and policy and decision-­makers across the Maritimes.

Dalhousie University is a leading academic and research institution in Atlantic Canada. Community Health and Epidemiology (http://che.medicine.dal.da) is a vibrant and research-­‐intensive unit with grant funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and many other national and provincial funding agencies. The Department hosts a Master of Science graduate program and has a new PhD program in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research starting in September 2015. The Department of Urology is a leader in urological care with a diverse practice and expertise in state of the art technologies and procedures and a proud heritage of excellence and innovation in patient care.
