CCO is focused on advancing its research mandate through knowledge discovery, transfer and application.  Through a recent organization review and prioritization of its research priorities, the Chief Research Officer (CRO) role has been created – with a mandate of ensuring that research is mission-aligned and positioned towards advancing the best possible interventions in improving the delivery of care.

The Position

Reporting to the VP, Analytics and Informatics and liaising with the entire VP leadership team, the CRO will be responsible for leading an organizational shift in the conduct of Research at CCO. In this newly created role, the CRO will lead the development of a research strategy and coordinate its effective implementation, while building capacity within CCO that can ultimately be translated into applied innovation.

Key leadership initiatives for the new Chief Research Officer will be to:

  • Develop a strategy that inspires innovation and effectively positions CCO as a leader in applied research;
  • Establish and foster strong communities of practice that enable internal capacity building and strengthen established networks;
  • Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and the broader scientific community by encouraging collaboration, knowledge exchange, and a commitment to applied research.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of scientific research and methodology. Experience in population studies and/or epidemiology and/or health services research would be considered an asset. He/she should be familiar with grant funding application processes, and have a track record of leading research strategy and operations.  An outstanding senior research leader committed to system performance and innovation, the successful candidate will also be an exceptional relationship developer capable of inspiring teams, peers and stakeholders.
