Health Services Researcher / Epidemiologist
The Roy and Vi Baay Chair in Kidney Research along with the Department of Community Health Sciences invite applications for a contingent-term academic position at the Assistant Professor or higher level for a Health Services Researcher / Epidemiologist. This position will include a focus on research in kidney and related chronic diseases, including use of administrative and other data sources. Strong analytic, communication and organizational skills are required. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop an independent research program with collaborative interactions in a multidisciplinary research environment of the Department of Community Health Sciences, as well as the University of Calgary Institute for Public Health, the Division of Nephrology and Alberta Health Services Kidney Strategic Clinical Network, and the broader Faculty of Medicine.
As a faculty member this role includes up to 60% of time for research and related activities and 40% education and administration. This will include supervision and mentoring of research staff in data analysis and related activities for the Alberta Kidney Disease Network and the Interdisciplinary Chronic Disease Collaboration as well as related research teams, graduate student support, supervision of clinical trainees in research activities, and supporting the Chair in research activities and to develop and expand data holdings. While start up research funding is available, the successful candidate will be expected to apply and be successful at national granting agencies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
Qualifications include a PhD or equivalent, with additional training or experience in health research and education, 2-3 years postdoctoral experience in health services research, and a proven record of academic excellence as demonstrated by publications in relevant peer-reviewed journal and ability to compete successfully for independent research funding.
