Position Title:       Section of Researchers (SOR) Blueprint Assistant Manager

Department:         Research

Reports to:           Senior Research Advisor and Director, Research

Classification:      Support Staff

Main Responsibilities:

 

The primary role of the SOR Blueprint Assistant Manager is to assist the Senior Research Advisor in further developing and implementing the SOR Blueprint, and aligning this with the CFPC Strategic Plan.

 

Specific activities include:

 

  • Assist with the work plan development
    • Prepare spreadsheets and project planning
    • Assist with budget development, management, monitoring and reporting
  • Assist with the complexities of implementing the SOR Blueprint:
    • Coordinate the meetings and work of the SOR Action Group (AG) leaders and members
    • Develop the AG Plans
    • Oversee and monitor the AG Plans
    • Assist with building relationships with research leaders, family medicine department chairs, family medicine university departments, Deans, family medicine research directors
    • Link to external stakeholders
    • Develop advocacy activities, tools and materials
  • Assist with developing the governance of the SOR Council
    • All SOR Council meeting preparation
    • Prepare the materials for meetings
    • Record actions and minutes
    • Evaluations, conflicts of interest
    • SOR Council comportment governance
    • Help with the coordination of SOR Council subcommittees, e.g. Executive, LAAN, nominations
    • Follow-up on issues raised
  • Helping with knowledge translation of research materials
    • Prepare posters, abstracts, and presentations
    • Present materials to internal CFPC committees and departments, and CFPC chapters
    • Prepare materials for the FMF + Chapter ASAs
  • Draft communications, backgrounders, summaries/articles about SOR, etc.
  • Attend key CFPC meetings or external research related meetings when requested by the CFPC, SOR or Research Department 
  • As a member of the CFPC Research Department, contribute to supporting the work of the Research Department, as is appropriate
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Research, Senior Research Advisor, or the CFPC Section of Researchers

 

Requirements:

 

  • Undergrad degree required; Masters level education or equivalent preferred
  • Three to five years’ related professional experience
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of the Canadian health care system and family medicine research
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential
  • French language skills, in addition to English, are a definite asset  
  • Advanced technical skills using MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote), project management software,  Prezi, Adobe Acrobat, and other social media platforms
  • Library skills – cataloguing, organizing
  • Proven exceptional writing and report preparation skills
  • Budget and accounting knowledge and experience

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Open-concept office environment
  • Some travel and conference attendance

 

Hours of Work:

 

  • 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; flexible for overtime as required plus occasional travel or weekend work for meetings and conferences
