Position Title: Data Management and Research Analyst
Department: Academic Family Medicine – Exams Division
Reports to: Examinations Manager
Classification: Support Staff

Main Responsibilities:
As directed by the Associate Director and Examinations Manager, this position performs all activities related to the data management, analysis, research, and reporting connected with two national certification examinations in family and emergency medicine and with the alternative routes to certification programs of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Specific activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Data integrity, logistics, storage and security
  • Data capture, collection, manipulation, sharing
    • Creation, calibration of score sheets and communication survey forms
    • Secure transmission of data
  • Computer-based scoring process and data exchange
  • Reports for the Board of Examiners, for each exam and examination instrument
    • internal consistency data
    • item reliability statistics and analysis
    • performance statistics
    • quantitative and qualitative satisfaction surveys
  • Reports for University Departments of Family Medicine and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Reporting of individual exam results and individualized feedback on performance
  • Continuous Quality Improvement, notably
    • for a standardized approach to the reporting of examination results and of examination performance data
    • for research studies currently underway, or planned, around examinations and assessment at the College
    • ongoing research and development on the measurement or psychometric aspects of our examinations, of the materials and methods used to develop them, and of our examination results and their predictive value
    • other issues identified as important


  • Master’s degree in a research/information science discipline or Bachelor’s with appropriate experience
  • Two – five years related experience in similar organization
  • Proficiency with all MS office tools
  • Advanced skills with Excel and SPSS Syntax
  • Basic computer programming skills an asset
  • Knowledge of methods of research, data collection and analysis
  • Use of other analytical database tools an asset
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work both independently and in a team
  • Proven ability to solve ad-hoc problems and work under pressure; time constraints/deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • French proficiency would be an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Open-concept office environment

Hours of Work:

  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday; flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends required
