Main Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant will contribute analytical and technical support to the National Physician Survey (NPS) project as part of CFPC research team. The position involves working with the CFPC and other the project co-leader NPS project team members, as well as providing services to external information seekers. The Research Assistant will contribute expertise in research methodology, statistical analysis and technical support to enhance the data collection and dissemination activities of the NPS project and CFPC Research Department.
Responsibilities will require the successful candidate to:

  • Assist in creation and maintenance of the National Physician Survey databases, using SPSS
  • Generate database output, as required by the NPS dissemination strategies
  • Assist in data analysis, and generate reports based upon the NPS data for requests, publication and presentations
  • Assist in development and implementation of the NPS research methodology
  • Perform maintenance of the NPS website, and participate in content generation for NPS website and social media
  • Carry out literature searches, as required by the project activities
  • Maintain the filing systems, and ensure the project documentation is up to date
  • Maintain the NPS website
  • Participate in content generation for NPS website, social media and Janus portion of CFPC Research website
  • Communicate with NPS data users to assist them through providing support and custom analyses
  • Provide technical and analytical support to the CFPC Research Department and Janus Committee as required
  • Attend meetings and conferences, and provide support for these functions as required by the project
  • Continue development and maintenance of the Research Website and other related websites
  • Assist with technical aspects of various projects within the Research Department, including those of National Research System (NaReS)
  • Participate and assist in miscellaneous Research Department activities as required.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a research related discipline, preferably with 1?2 years related work experience
  • Extensive experience working with SPSS, writing SPSS syntax and maintaining large SPSS databases
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience using statistical methodology for data analysis, report generation and article writing
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Knowledge of the Canadian health care system, health care research, research ethics and privacy General knowledge of website maintenance/web content management. Experience working with Wordpress-based sites an asset
  • Working knowledge of social media and its role as information dissemination tool
  • Exceptional attention to detail, readiness to learn new skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and strong communications skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Skills in graphics would be an asset
  • Proficiency in the French language would be an asset

  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday
