Methods in Post-Market Drug Safety and Effectiveness Research
Application Deadline: January 9, 2015
Conventional randomized controlled trials (RCT), conducted with strict protocols and rigorously defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, are considered by many as the pinnacle for clinical studies, despite the under-represented or exclusion of some certain populations from these trials. However, funding large and even small RCTs is challenging given their prohibitive cost and size and other limitations, and many clinical questions remain unaddressed, making alternative designs to conventional RCTs attractive.
Therefore, DSEN and SPOR are jointly launching this funding opportunity to promote and ultimately increase capacity in innovative and cost-effective trial designs in drug safety and effectiveness research and encourage researchers from diverse backgrounds to explore new methodologies.
More specifically, this funding opportunity will address post-market drug safety and effectiveness research using each of the following methodologies through the following funding pools:
Funds available - $600,000 for approximately 6 grants
Maximum amount per award - $100,000
Grant duration – One year
