There have always been unscrupulous publishers who do not follow acceptable standards of scholarly publishing (predatory journals), offering little or no peer review and/or editorial services. With the explosion of online publishing and increasing use of the article processing charge (author pays) business model, predatory publishers are becoming more common and sophisticated. This webinar is designed to inform you about the risky world of online publishing and how to identify journals that may take your money at the cost of your credibility.
The objectives of this webinar are to familiarize participants with the characteristics and practices of predatory publishers and to provide attendees with the tools and knowledge to identify and avoid them.
Instructor: Jeanette Hatherill, Scholarly Communication Librarian, The University of Ottawa
