The Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre are seeking applicants for one faculty position in the Perinatal Epidemiology Research Unit (PERU). This position is a tenure-stream, full-time faculty position with a joint appointment in both departments (50% in each department).

This position offers opportunities to pursue active research programs focused on perinatal and/or pediatric epidemiology. Scientists affiliated with the Unit will have access to the population-based provincial perinatal and administrative health databases and other clinical and administrative data sources. The successful candidate will also engage in collaborative research projects with faculty in the Dalhousie academic community. The environment is highly favourable for conducting clinical and population-based epidemiologic research. The position requires active involvement in teaching residents, fellows, and medical students. The successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for a cross-appointment with the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, which will provide the opportunity for graduate student supervision, teaching, and collaboration.

Academic qualifications include a PhD degree in Epidemiology or related area and ideally experience in perinatal or pediatric health research. Expertise and experience using large databases for research is preferred. Experience in population health research, health services research, or health policy evaluation would be considered an asset. As well, leadership skills and demonstrated success in obtaining research funding will also be considered an asset. Academic rank and remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

Dalhousie University is committed to fostering a collegial culture grounded in diversity and inclusiveness. The university encourages applications from Aboriginal people, persons with a disability, racially visible persons, women, persons of minority sexual orientations and gender identities, and all candidates who would contribute to the diversity of our community. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.

The application deadline is May 15, 2018.

Interested applicants should submit a Curriculum vitae, along with a statement outlining their research experience and interests as well as teaching experience. A complete application also includes a completed Self-Identification Questionnaire, which is available at www.dal.ca/becounted/selfid .
