The Health Sector Workforce Division is responsible for managing over $3.0 billion in public health care funding for physician and supplementary services. Our focus is patients. Our role is to direct medical services funding to get the best value in patient care. Our mission is to support patient access to high-quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based medical services throughout British Columbia. With these principles at the forefront, the Division leads the Ministry in directing change in physician clinical practice (patient care); negotiating and managing compensation for physicians and supplementary benefit practitioners; and developing policy and managing operations for the Medical Services Plan. In addition, the Division engages in rigorous critical analysis and strategic management to support its overall strategic direction.
The Compensation Analyst, working independently or as part of a team, provides analysis, direction and advice in the disciplines of forecasting, estimating, implementation, and interpretation of processes and practices related to physician compensation. The Compensation Analyst provides quality services to a variety of stakeholders within and outside the Ministry. This includes the application, interpretation and impact analyses of cost data, methodologies, and policies/procedures related to physician compensation programs managed by the branch, e.g. the Alternative Payments Program (APP), the Medical On-Call Availability Program (MOCAP), and Rural Practice Programs.
