Chair in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Outcomes

The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University invites applications for an Endowed Chair position in the area of Mental Health Services and Outcomes Research. The academic rank for the successful applicant (i.e., Associate or Full Professor) will be commensurate with his/her experience. The position will begin whenever the Chair is filled.

The Chair is intended for a health systems scientist with expertise in childhood or adolescent mental health outcomes research. The successful Chair will focus on the development of a program of research in conjunction with the Mental Health Program at the IWK Health Centre to ensure that each child, adolescent, and family receives the best possible mental health care. The successful applicant will have a PhD in an appropriate discipline, and will have at least seven years experience in outcomes research in health services and evidence of international stature in that field. She or he will be committed to advancing child and adolescent mental health and will have demonstrated him/herself to be exceptional in research methodology as applied to outcomes research. Evidence of academic excellence in quantitiative methods is a requirement.

Dalhousie University is a leading academic and research institution in Atlantic Canada. The successful applicant will enhance and complement existing clinical epidemiology activities in the Department, attract funding from major granting agencies and engage in Departmental graduate teaching. The Department (see http://che.medicine.dal.ca) is a vibrant and research-intensive unit with major grant funding from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research and other granting agencies. The Department hosts a Master of Science graduate program and is developing a PhD in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research. Research programs and infrastructure led by Departmental faculty members include the: Maritime Strategy for Patient Oriented Research SUPPORT Unit; Research Methods Unit; Canadian Longitudinal Study of Health and Aging; Health and Environments Research Centre; and Health Data Nova Scotia.
