Benefits of CAHSPR Membership

Canada's Leading Association

CAHSPR is Canada's largest and most diverse health services and policy research association and provides strong support for the needs of its members as well as unique opportunities for networking, collaboration and career advancement.

CAHSPR has strong ties with the CIHR's Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR), the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (CHSRF) and the Canadian College of Health Service Executives (CCHSE). These and other key partnerships help keep CAHSPR and its members at the forefront of health services and policy research and decision-making in Canada.

CAHSPR Conference

In a recent survey, CAHSPR members ranked the association's annual conference, with its stimulating presentations and its cross-disciplinary and researcher/decision-maker networking opportunities, to be the most important benefit the organization provides.

CAHSPR members benefit from reduced rates for attending the organization's annual conference. For regular members, conference fees are $125 less than for non-members, and for student members, $35 less than for student non-members.

The 2007 CAHSPR conference will be held June 12-14, 2007 in Toronto, with a focus on "Leading, Linking and Listening: Knowledge Exchange at the Frontiers of Health Services and Policy Research". The conference takes place with the National Healthcare Leadership Conference to promote linkage amongst decision makers, policy makers and researchers - which will be of interest to many CAHSPR delegates and will attract speakers and participants from around the world.

Online Collaboration Tools

One of the newest benefits to CAHSPR membership is access to online collaboration tools within our Members Only area. This is a collaborative environment offering resources and tools to support cutting-edge online communication and document exchange. In addition to an open Forum and main Collaboration area, members can create their own "Collaboration Rooms" for a particular research focus or topic, and invite others to join. Each of these rooms offers user-friendly modules for message posting, document exchange (with full upload/download permissions), chat, and private messaging.

Healthcare Policy Journal

CAHSPR members receive a free subscription to the electronic version of Healthcare Policy, a quarterly Canadian health services and policy journal launched in 2006. The journal's editorial policy is aligned with CAHSPR's mandate and the publication will help to foster interdisciplinary health services and policy research in Canada, as well as promoting research-based decision making.

CAHSPR Newsletter

In a recent survey, CAHSPR members ranked the weekly CAHSPR Newsletter (formerly Listserv) as one of the most valuable benefits of membership. The newsletter is sent to all members by email and provides timely information on career opportunities, CAHSPR activities and upcoming events, links to course materials for student members, current research/policy items of interest to members, and much more.

Support of Knowledge Transfer

CAHSPR is committed to supporting the transfer of knowledge between researchers and decision-makers, and the organization is uniquely positioned to nurture relationships between its members and Canadian health executives and policy-makers. CAHSPR will work closely with CCHSE, CIHR, CHSRF and other organizations to strengthen the connection between researchers and research users within Canada’s healthcare system.

Support for Interdisciplinary Research

CAHSPR is a truly interdisciplinary organization with members from across the spectrum of health services and policy research, with interests in the financial, organizational, social, ethical or political aspects of health. CAHSPR is committed to supporting the diversity of its membership and to providing opportunities for members to network and to build interdisciplinary research collaborations. The organization also provides a home for decision-makers from the healthcare sector who are interested in research outcomes and participating in research collaborations.
